About Rob Hudson

Founder, Launch Lab

Background

Launch Lab exists because I've spent 25 years learning what makes software ventures succeed — and what makes them fail.

My journey started in 2000 when I founded MyDistrict.Net, a last-mile delivery platform that grew to serve 45 US markets before being acquired by ACI Media Group in 2016. That exit taught me what it takes to build something valuable from the ground up.

After the acquisition, I co-founded ACI Logistix and built its entire technology stack from scratch. This wasn't a simple web app — it was industrial-scale infrastructure:

  • Edge computing: Raspberry Pi-based sortation control running on warehouse floors
  • Hardware integration: Scanners, conveyors, sorting machines, label printers
  • Event processing: High-throughput systems handling millions of scan events daily
  • Real-time tracking: White-labeled customer experience with live delivery maps
  • Carrier integrations: Deep partnerships including DoorDash for last-mile delivery
  • Support systems: ZenDesk integration for customer service workflows

The platform processed millions of packages per week for clients including TikTok and Temu. I achieved SOC 2 Type II certification and scaled the engineering team to 30+ across the US and India.

I've built at both ends: scrappy bootstrap startup and enterprise-scale systems that touch the physical world. Both taught me that the hardest problems aren't simple CRUD apps — they're integrations, real-time systems, and platforms that coordinate multiple parties.

Now I'm looking for what's next.

Why Launch Lab?

I started Launch Lab because I wanted to build companies again — but with the right partners.

I'm looking for cofounders, not clients. I work with domain experts to validate and build ventures. Most ideas get killed fast — that's the point. The ones that survive validation become real companies.

I focus on hard problems. Integrations across multiple systems. Real-time coordination. Platforms that touch the physical world. If your problem could be solved with a no-code tool or a weekend hackathon, it's not the right fit.

Equity, not invoices. Cofounders, not contractors. This is a partnership — shared risk, shared upside, shared commitment to validation before building. I bring the technical execution; you bring the domain expertise, market access, and go-to-market capability.

I believe in disciplined validation. Stage-gated framework: problem → solution → MVP → traction → scale. Each stage has clear exit criteria and kill conditions. If the data says stop, we stop — and we learn.

If you have a complex problem in an industry you know deeply, let's talk.
